Kings
River Falls Natural Area
 |
Kings
River Falls Natural Area is located at the interface
of the Springfield Plateau and Boston Mountains
subdivisions of the Ozark Mountains. The natural
area includes Kings River with Kings River Falls
being a focal point. Kings River is a clear mountain
stream originating east of Boston in Newton County.
The river flows for about 50 miles through Madison
and Carroll Counties, eventually merging with Osage
Creek before it flows into Table Rock Reservoir.
A mixed pine-hardwood forest covers slopes on the
east side of the natural area. On the west side,
steeper slopes are covered almost entirely with
hardwood species. Rock walls, bluff shelters, and
rocky slopes characterize most of the western half
of the tract. A diverse and colorful shrub community
borders the stream. |

War
Eagle Creek and War Eagle Fair
The
creek begins its life southeast of Huntsville
near the small community of Boston in Madison County.
The creek forms among the hardwoods of Ozark National
Forest and flows through alternating forests and farmlands
as it approaches Beaver Lake just south of the Missouri
State Line. Scenery all around the creek is excellent.
The natural beauty of Arkansas and the beautiful way the
water current moves down the stream attract people from
near and far.
The War Eagle Fair
began in 1954 to showcase arts and crafts. The Board of
Directors of the nonprofit association paid scrupulous
attention to quality, went out of their way to revive
traditional arts and crafts forms in danger of extinction,
offered visitors free admission and free parking.
And all of those traditions continue. Attendance has increased
to an estimated 180,000 or more people each year
and sales exceed $1 million in arts and crafts. Exhibitors
undergo strict screening for entry, and must abide by
carefully enforced rules and standards. They sell products
of their own skill and creativity. For more information
