MADISON COUNTY SOLID WASTE


The Madison County Solid Waste and Recycling Center is a full-service facility that accepts more materials than any other single location in the state. This makes our program very convenient and economical. Our goal is to reduce the volume and toxicity of the solid waste that is generated in our county. In an effort to reduce our need for landfills, we accept many items free of charge for recycling. Household trash is accepted for a disposal fee and will go to a landfill. Special wastes such as yard waste, old tires, appliances, construction & demolition debris, and household hazardous waste are also accepted. In addition, we buy aluminum cans and several metals. No dead animals are accepted, nor industrial/commercial hazardous waste. Please call our office at 479-738-6351 for current rates.

Recycling is EASY!

Separating recyclables from other trash can be a simple matter of placing a box next to your regular trash container.

Clean recyclable items can be mixed in this box and later sorted at the recycling center. Two boxes will allow you to separate dry items (newspaper,cardboard) from wet items (rinsed-out jars, plastics, and cans). Ask us how to help you customize your system at home.

Trash

- $1.30/bag (30 gal), $.65/bag (13 gal.), $2.05 for a 55 gal. bag

- $19.50 standard pick-up large bed of trash; $9.75/ft. above bed

- $14.50 standard pick-up small bed of trash; $7.25/ft. above bed

- $14.50 economy pick-up large bed of trash; $7.25/ft. above bed

- $12.50 economy pick-up small bed of trash; $6.25/ft. above bed

- loose household trash is $6.50/cubic yard for other trucks and trailers

- $36 standard pickup (large bed) of Construction & Demolition Debris; includes, carpet, bricks, blocks, treated, creosoted or painted wood, plywood, particle board, paneling, blandex, etc. filled to the top, OR $12/cubic yard

Burn Barrels

- $6.50/full burn barrel ($8.50 includes barrel)

Limbs

- Limbs & Branches $3-$9/pickup depending on the size of the limbs

Lumber

- $9/pickup load; clean lumber (2x4’s, NO plywood, blandex, particle board, nothing painted, treated, or creosoted); this lumber can have nails.

Leaves

- bagged leaves and grass clippings are FREE (no trash or limbs)

Tires

- 4 passenger tires/person FREE; large truck tires $3.42 each; tires on rims $2.20 each

Steel

- Scrap iron & steel, galvanized sheet iron, hog wire, barb wire, round bale feeders, bicycles, banding, etc. FREE

Household Hazardous Waste

- Household Hazardous Waste is FREE – includes gasoline, motor oil, oil filters, anti-freeze, paint, varnish, solvents, household herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, swimming pool chemicals, muriatic acid, household and car batteries, florescent bulbs, PCB ballasts, and other toxic, poisonous, flammable, reactive or hazardous waste. (households only please)
